In Aruba we call it Johnny cake. And love it with simple cheese, salt fish or just plain. I make it regularly for my friend and neighbours in the Netherlands
I dont know what goes wrong. I think it may be the temperature of my oil though. The first few come out flat and dense whereas the last ones frying come out airy and perfect. Perhaps my oils not fully heated in the beginning??
So I followed this recipe exact however somewhere between the rolling process and the frying process my bakes rise too much and one side is nice an pillow and the other isn’t and when I squeeze it it lets out air. It happens to some and not all. Can someone tell me what I’m doing wrong 🥺😭
When will these folk realize that these white flour carbohydrates are creating a cascade of diabetes in their communities? Some people will eat 3 and 4 of these at one time generating a frantic insulin response. Unbelievable
