Jonny rockets is rubbish, even the kids won’t eat there. Been on 5 Rcab. Cruises and go past it every day and not a soul in there. Time to get rid and use the space for something better.!

Could not agree more about Chops Grille. The service we had was lacking, and left me wishing I had just gone to the main dining room for dinner instead. I felt like a station some cooking game where literally the bare minimum was being accomplished. The other grievance I had with Chops is that I found a wine I really enjoyed and was having all over the ship, but when I went to order it at Chops, I was told I could not get it as they have their own bar; which turned out to be just a medium size cooler with like 8 bottles of wine. So I spent extra for the opportunity of great food and amazing service, but got borderline poor service and decent food. 2/10 would not eat again.

Just by looking at the fries from Johnny R, I can tell they are bland and not crispy.

My wife and I sailed on Allure recently. Johnny Rockets staff was incredible, food was good too, especially for breakfast. We loved Izumi (we did it twice). We did Chops maybe 3 times and the Filet was so tender, Giovanni's was pretty good, there was one pasta dish that we didn't care for and I think our server agreed with our assessment. Sabor was great food, but the staff was lackluster. We did not like 150 Central Park at all, best part was the bread at the start of the meal. We also didn't like the main dining room for breakfast (they put a buffet in the middle of it and it just feels like you're in a fancy version of the Windjammer) Also didn't care to much for Samba Grill. We're interested in trying Wonderland on a future cruise!

I agree with your reviews. On our cruise on Explorer of the Seas we were very impressed with Giovanni's Table and Izumi, less so with Chops and Johnny Rockets. We also were not impressed with the service in the main dining room for breakfast and lunch.

Never thought Five Guys fries were that good.

That said burgers are greasy. It's why so many people say they're unhealthy. Plus if you add cheese and bacon that's even more fat. It's a rare indulgence.

I'm not surprised that Johnny Rockets isn't that good on a cruise ship since it sucks as a standalone restaurant as well.

Chops Grille on Allure of the Seas was superb in every way..sorry to see you didn't get the same experience. Definitely not a restaurant we would avoid. The steak in Giovanni's was good, though was no match for the one in Chops Grille. Give it a try on another of their ships!

i totally agree with you on Chops, we finally tried Cagneys for our first sailing with NCL on the Joy and it was much much better than Chops. We'll never eat at Chops again. Cagneys all the way now

like I said they prepare the Johnny rockets burgers and the burgers for the main dining room at the same time the only difference is that Johnny rockets are 5 ounces and the main dining room are 6 oz in one cost in the other ones complimentary don't waste your money at Johnny rockets your heart will be a lot better for it

You're absolutely right about Johnny rockets you don't want to eat there plus all the meat that is on the ship is prepared in 1 butcher shop on the ship and then distributed to different eateries the burgers at Johnny rockets are 5 oz but the burgers in the main dining room or 6 oz in one cost and the other ones complimentary you do the math have a great day

We loved Wonderland! ❤️ We had a really nice lunch at Chops on embarkation day (on Ovation) that was included with The Key 🔑. I personally have never like Johnny Rockets on land and wouldn’t be interested in eating there on a cruise ship either. We want to try Izumi if available on our next cruise, also plan to try Giovanni’s on Explorer next summer.

I agree about Johnny rocket's , I tried it on the Allure and it was terrible. I had the crispy chicken sandwich and it had a large gristle type thing right through the middle, very poor quality chicken. My family had the burger and said it was awful. We were one of 2 tables dining at the time and service was so slow. Fries were bland. They should remove this dining option for their ships. It's a 0 out of 10 and Guy's on Carnival is a 10.

Totally agree with you guys about chops grille . I've cruised on RCI many times & always made a point of going to chops . But I'd say on the last 3 occasions have been disappointed with the quality of food for the steep price . My last chops experience on Harmony of the seas was the worst service I've had on any of my previous 20 cruises . On the same b2b cruise I went to 150 Central Park & without doubt that was the best speciality meal I've ever had , 1st class service & amazing food .

I thought Chops Grille was amazing. I had never had a steak or salmon that good before (they gave me both). I don't remember the sides though, but I remember leaving there thinking that was the best restaurant on the ship.

Johnny Rockets is supposed to be greasy. It's like an old fashioned burger dive in the heartland of America.

We don't eat sushi so we skipped that place. Giovanni's table was great. Honestly, with two kids (they were 12 and 7 at the time), we spent a lot of time at Sorrentos and the Windjammer. Wonderland wasn't on our ship, we were on Allure of the Seas. October '17

I agree with Wonderland food and experience was wonderful, the main dining room for dinner was OMG, the 1st Italian restaurant you mentioned stayed booked so we could not try it. The pizzeria Sorrento's is amazing. My daughter and I was on Harmony of the Sea

We have a couple Johnny Rockets local to us in Baltimore, Maryland and the quality and service has gone down hill over the years. We head to Red Robin or Five Guys for a decent burger.

Izumis (standard) is god dam awefull. If you like it then you obviously dont eat at good asian resturants. I would not pay the price the charge on land for what they serve and considering you have allready paid for a meal and its an up chargenit is a disgrace. Been to chops twice and bith times was pretty good. Giovannis is excellent.

Your comment regarding Chops Grill hit a nerve with me thinking about Princess Cruises Sterling Steakhouse. The steak was good but the starter (spiny lobster cake) was bland & tasteless. As this was the only premium speciality restaurant onboard Sea Princess I booked it for my 50th and was very disappointed. Had to hit the bar for a few Mojitos to cheer myself up 😉

If you don't like Johnny Rockets on land, you won't like it at sea. Either way, the chicken sandwich is better with apple pie and strawberry shake……and breakfast on Oasis class.

Great video guys! Favorite specialty restaurants Wonderland my wife and I enjoyed it on Anthem of the Seas, Izumi was excellent on Granduer of the Seas in fact probably my favorite. Sorrentos can't go wrong who doesn't want pizza as an option for 24hours? Johnny Rockets I agree I get why Royal Caribbean has them they first appeared on Voyager class ships and were one of the first specialty restaurants, but now pretty irrelevant. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Royal drops them in the near future. Chops is okay I had chops on Mariner and Empress and it was really good on Empress. But on a larger ship with more options I wouldn't go out of my way to go to Chops. Also don't forget the food in the main dining room is usually excellent and you can't go wrong!

Just got off of my first Royal cruise yesterday. We did Chops twice and were totally not impressed overall, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! Biggest letdown was the Bearnaise sauce which was not at all flavorful. 150 Central Park was great, Giovanni's was amazing, Sabor for lunch was like a mid-range mexican restaurant.

Jamie's was awesome on the Harmony last December. Agree on Johnny Rockets – did not enjoy Savor either. We loved Chops. Ate at all the specialty restaurants.
So so on Wonderland, eh on 150, Loved Jamie's for lunch & dinner. Savor was a disappointment. Will be trying Hooked in December onboard the Symphony and of course Chops and Jamie's.

Jamie's is FANTASTIC. We never miss it – went twice on our last cruise. The crispy squid is a favorite, so is the meat plank, pasta vongole, steak, lamb chops, I could go on…we've never had a bad dish there.

Great tips! It's been 15 years since my last cruise. The ships I was on, didn't have specialty restaurants yet. They were just adding the to the ships when I moved north. I'm looking forward to cruising on Celebrity Equinox this November. We've reserved a night at La Petite Chef at Qsine. We also reserved a spot for my husband and I to try our hand at glass blowing. This will be his first cruise. We've heard that Sushi on Five is another spot to hit, so we plan on checking them out as well.

I agree with you about Johnny Rockets and Chops. I would rather have Guy's Burgers on Carnival over Johnny Rockets anyday – much tastier plus no cover charge. I thought the filet at Chops was better than Cagney's but the appetizers and sides were better at Cagney's. I also preferred Izumi Hibachi over NCL's Teppinyaki.
